COMMENTING ON PLANNING APPLICATIONS

Planning authorities receive many letters and e-mails supporting or objecting to planning applications every year and writing such comments is not a difficult task. The District/Borough Council basically needs to know what you think and why you think it. Nevertheless, it is helpful to understand a little about the background to the process and this seminar will try to help do that.

Topics covered will include:

A brief overview of the planning system and the policy framework within which planning decisions are made – at national, local and neighbourhood levels

How & when do I make my comments?

What issues can be raised?

What should I say?

How will my comments be considered?

Can I speak at a Planning Committee regarding the application?
