Should I attend?

Yes! If you are a Clerk at a Council with Elections next May and haven't been through the process before so want to learn what's needed; or to update and renew your knowledge and confidence if it isn't your first time.

Is it for you?

If yours is one of the majority of Hertfordshire Councils with ordinary elections in May 2019 and you want to be sure what you need to do, then this session is for you!

The session will cover the process and timetable of ordinary elections, eligibility criteria for candidates, responsibilities of the clerk, notice of elections and how to encourage residents to stand for election. We will look at how the council operates in the weeks coming up to an election and practical steps to take when councillors change to keep the council administration smooth. Plus we will look ahead to see what happens if there are insufficient candidates at election.
